Project Introduction

Nowadays, HIV/AIDS has become a serious social issue. Every day, there're 192 newly affected cases happening in China and 8000 people die from AIDS related diseases. However, the discromonation in the society still exists. "It's not the disease but the coldness when meeting those eyes makes my heart bleed." A patient said.

Through AIESEC's HIV/AIDS Learning Network we aim to address the issue of stigma and discrimination, corporate response in work place, and the role of youth in prevention and education through engaging with leaders, providing information, and creating internships for youth interested to work around the issue.

Highlights

q Deliver learning opportunities (workshops, working groups, exercises) that will help to increase understanding of HIV/AIDS prevention.

q Offer open spaces for discussion and sharing around HIV/AIDS issues between people from different nationalities and Chinese students of higher and secondary education.

qIncrease the ability and skills to prevent HIV/AIDS in the Chinese youth by exposing them to case studies and experience guided by international university students.

Projcet Impact

AIESEC Mainland China has actively pursued and searched out ways to promote our program with a positive impact on the society. As to HIV/AIDS issues, knowledge about HIV/AIDS has been popularized through getting people involved in our various activities. Therefore we have finally achieved our goal of creating awareness and enhancing learning among AIESEC members and society on HIV/AIDS issues and we received a positive reply.

“At Regional Induction Conference is the first time for me to think about my future plan, what I want to do in AIESEC as well how many opportunities I have in this organization. Thanks to this conference I started to think about global issues and think about my responsibility towards this society. I had opportunity to talk to another 70 people in the workshop, discuss different ideas and talk to the speaker personally and ask him for his opinions and suggestions towards particular issues.”
